Some insurance companies will not cover pit bulls because they cause a disproportionate rate of bite incidents.

There’s a general misconception that American bullies and American Pitbull Terriers are the same. However, there are different breeds of dogs bred in America.

German Shepherd:

On the other hand, German Shepherds also known as Alsatians in Britain, were bred in Germany as working dogs and to herd and guard sheep.

German Shepherds are commonly used as working and guard dogs by the police, customs, and military for patrolling, bomb sniffing, and search and rescue.

They are best suited for scent-work roles such as cadaver searching, explosives detection, narcotics, and mine detection cause of their keen sense of smell and abilities to function regardless of distractions.

They are commonly kept as companion dogs cause they are easy to train and are quite excellent at performing tasks and instructions.

In a hypothetical fight between the German Shepherd and the American Pitbull, the historical military background as a working dog by the German Shepherd and bull baiting by the American Pitbull will come into play and that will make the contest fierce and difficult to predict its outcome.

The German shepherds have been trained to be very disciplined, intelligent, and obedient which can translate into strategic defensive maneuvers and well-calculated responsiveness and positioning to any threat posed by the American PItbull.

German Shepherd weighs more and are taller than Pit bulls, they can easily capitalize on such physical strength power, and leverage on pit bulls but they will have to maintain a safer distance from the American pit bull because of the pit bull’s greater cavity.
